Welcome to the Foothill's English Department

Carrie Fleming
Ms. Fleming hails from Kansas where she earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Kansas. She currently teaches AP Language and Composition and the AVID electives for 10th and 12th grades. She is also the English Department Chair. In 2007 she was awarded the Distinguished Educator Award for the Southeast Region. Other memorable teaching moments include the year she spent as a Fulbright Teacher in Senegal, West Africa teaching English to students at John F. Kennedy High School in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. It was an amazing experience, and one that made Ms. Fleming truly grateful for all the "extras" that we have in schools in the U.S. In her spare time, she loves to travel, read, and spend time with family and friends.



Jacqueline Joseph



Ms. Joseph was born in Cleveland, Ohio but lived most of her live in California. She graduated from California State University at Northridge and then went on to teach at Palmdale High School for six years. She then moved to Las Vegas to be close to her dad. She taught for five years at Eldorado High School before coming to Foothill. She has two adult daughters and a beautiful granddaughter. She loves to play backgammon and hearts. Also, reading or watching a good movie. She teaches English II Honors and American Lit here at Foothill.


Trenton Lorcher

Mr. Lorcher has a Bachelors Degree in Education from UNLV, a Masters degree in Literature from UNLV.
He participates in triathlons (First place in the 2008 Grand Phelasco Sprint Triathlon at Boulder Beach, NV) and runs cross country. This is his second year at Foothill, before this he taught at Chaparral High School for 10 years.


Chelsea Moss


Ms. Moss teaches English I Honors, English II Honors, AP Language and Compositionhere at Foothill. She received her bachelors degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English, and her Masters Degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy from UNLV. She has two dogs named Cubby and Lucy.



Tammy Muniz

Mrs. Muniz teaches Composition and Modern Literature here at Foothill. She has a Masters in Secondary English and has a second Masters in Literacy, all from UNLV. She also has an Advanced Studies Certificate. She is a true Las Vegas native, and never plans on leaving.




Julie Murray

Ms. Murray has a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University - Provo, Utah and a degree in English Secondary Education from Nevada State College - Henderson, Nevada. She enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, playing the piano, and teaching.



Regan Peterson


Ms. Peterson went to BYU-Provo and BYU-Hawaii. She likes to travel & has been to 49 of the 50 states, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Denmark. She goes to the Shakespeare Festival each August. Her favorite movies are WALL-e and Some Kind of Wonderful. She likes to play the piano. She also has 12 brothers and sisters.





Stephanie Stearns




Ms. Stearns teaches English II, Reading Fundamentals, and English Language Learners. She has a BA in English from Youngstown State University and a Masters in TESL from UNLV.





Christy Stewart



Ms. Stewart teaches Advanced Placement Literature & Composition, English III Read/Write, and English II here at Foothill. She received her B.S. English Ed. from Central Missouri State University and her Masters of Education, in Curriculum, Assessment, & Instruction from Jones International University, both in Missouri. She is a single "parent" to her beagle Ellie, and who enjoys hiking with her. Ms. Stewart also enjoys baking, reading, and going to movies.



Bill Tobler


Mr. Tobler has been teaching for sixteen years, six of which have been here at Foothill. He teaches Journalism, Yearbook, and English I Honors. He received his Bachelors Degree from Indiana State University and his Masters Degree from UNLV in Secondary Education. He is extremely proud of the school newspaper and yearbook, which he heads. Both publications have received numerous awards. He enjoys hiking and camping, wake boarding, music, DJing, geocaching, and photography in his free time.


Karen Vaughan

Mrs. Vaughan graduated from UNLV for both her undergraduate and masters degrees in education. Mrs. Vaughan has been teaching for sixteen years. She now teaches Broadcast Journalism, which produces our FST NEWS programs, and is the coach of both Mock Trial and our Speech and Debate program. .




Margaret Wagner



Mrs. Wagner teaches American Literature, Composition, and the new College English 101 class here at Foothill. She has lived in Las Vegas and Henderson since 1984, and graduated from Basic H.S., after which she went to UNLV. She has a BA in English, a M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction, and is currently in a MA program for English Literature at UNLV. She enjoys studying literature, watching baseball, and spending time with her two sons.


Denise Walker

Mrs. Walker teaches World Lit. Honors and English Lit. here at Foothill. She received her undergraduate degrees from College of the Holy Names, Oakland, California and UC Berkeley, and her masters from UNLV. She has been teaching for 25 years, and has a long line of teachers in her family. Her husband is a former English teacher, her daughter-in-law is a teacher at Mannion, her daughter is a kindergarten teacher in Reno, and her son is Foothill's very own Mr. Walker. In her free time Mrs. Walker enjoys World Travel, backpacking, hiking, exercise of any kind, reading, taking care of her dogs, crochet, and family parties



Geoff Walker
Mr. Walker graduated from UNLV with degrees in Education and English Literature and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University. He enjoys football, politics, reading, and working in the yard. His wife is a teacher at Mannion.



Kim Williams


Ms.Williams teaches English II and English II Read/Write.



Erin Wing


Ms. Wing has her BA in English and her English Education Certification from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. She likes to relax, read, hang out with friends, go to movies, go on motorcycle rides, and shop in her free time.
