Tips for filling out an Online Job Application

Tips for filling out applications.

1. Print, don't write. Printing is much easier to read. Use your best penmanship

2. Use a pen, not a pencil. Pencil is to easy to smudge or smear.

3. Neatness counts. Neat looking application says that you take pride in your work. A sloppy application with lots of crossed out information and mistakes says your a sloppy worker.

4. Answer every question. However, if any question bothers you put "see me." If you feel that a question is improper, leave it blank. If a question doesn't apply to you, write "n/a" (not applicable).

5. Don't give an expected salary. You may price yourself out of the job if it's too large. Instead write "Open."

6. Be accurate. Make sure all names are spelled correctly and all addresses, telephone numbers and dates are correct. An inaccurate application says that you are an inaccurate worker.

7. Make sure your reason for leaving each job is a good one. Managers hate quitters.

8. Make sure you have permission to use a person's name before you offer him or her as a reference.

9. Be honest. No exaggerating:
"... any misrepresentation or omission is sufficient grounds for immediate dismissal."

10. Don't forget to sign and date the application after you read the agreement.
